This is a rare Post-Civil War image of a Hospital Steward, the Army Medics of their day. He is wearing that distinctive Hospital Steward sleeve insignia. Somewhat rare to find images of Civil War-era Hospital Stewards. This is the first I’ve ever seen of a Post-War Hospital Steward.
