Most soldiers tossed their playing cards away before battle. If killed, they did not want their cards sent home only to add to the grief of their mothers. So, it’s not too often you find soldiers posing with cards for a picture. It does give us an inside look into the everyday life of Civil War soldier. The condition isn’t the best, but this is a great example of what collectors call, “content over quality.”
